  • Last admission to the church is at 6.30 PM
  • Only 25 people are admitted inside the church for a duration of 15 minutes.
  • Santa Maria delle Grazie is closed on all Mondays, New Year’s Day, May 1st and Christmas Day.

Getting To Santa Maria delle Grazie

By Underground Metro
You can alight at either the Conciliazione station (red line) or the Cardona (red and green lines). Both these stations are located at a distance of about five minutes from Santa Maria delle Grazie.

Tram #16, which runs by the Duomo, stops right in front of the church.

Rules & Regulations

  • You must arrive in advance of your scheduled time in order to be admitted.
  • Remember to dress conservatively or you may be turned away from the convent.
  • You can take photos of the painting but only without flash.
  • Taking videos of the painting is prohibited.


  • Reservations are required all year and tickets can only be booked two months in advance but usually sell out very quickly. Tickets are free for those under 18 but a reservation is still required.
  • Get a guide if you’re not well versed with the significance of the painting. The constant flow of knowledge while you take in the beauty of the painting will only elevate your experience.
  • The painting has been restored and renovated many times. Hence, the colors you see today are likely different than the ones Da Vinci originally chose.
  • Taxis are not easy to catch when departing the church, but there is a cable car stop nearby.
